Women's Bridge

Puente de la Mujer, Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires

Description:

The Bridge of Women in Buenos Aires is Santiago Calatrava’s only work in South America. This marvel of architectural thought is located in the area of Puerto Madero.

In fact, the Bridge of Women is a small cable-stayed pedestrian bridge of an unusual design, as it is very reminiscent of a harp.

Before the construction began, Santiago Calatrava asked for samples of local music and, inspired by the tango, came to the conclusion that the future bridge would symbolize a dancing couple.

The name of the bridge is very simple - all the surrounding streets are named after famous Argentine women.
