Numismatic museum
San Martí n 215, primer piso, Buenos Aires, Argentina
About the company:
The magnificent building on San Mart N once housed a bustling stock exchange. Today it houses the oldest museum of numismatics at the Central Bank in Latin America. The exhibits clearly and in detail illustrate the development of trade and monetary relations in Argentina and throughout South America.
Here you can find cocoa beans and seeds that served as money during the pre-Columbian era, and gold doubloons and reales used in the modern era. The museum is notable for the fact that it is the only place where puppet shows are regularly arranged for young visitors: dolls tell in detail about the value of money and teach to appreciate the historical heritage of the country.
