Pedro del Castillo Square
Limited to Alberdi, Beltran, Itxaningo and Ricardo Videla streets
Description:
The Piazza Pedro del Castillo remembers the day Pedro del Castillo founded a town called Mendoza here. A walk along this square with the head plunges tourists into the history of the country.
To penetrate the spirit of history here help fascinating excursions to the Museum of the National Fund, located in the center of the square. The most fascinating of these is the visit to the underground grottoes. Mineral springs used to beat under the square, now, unfortunately, it is impossible to heal with water from them, but you can still look at the remains of the past.
Another step into the past is the study of the ruins of the Temple of St. Francis. Jesuit services were held there until they were expelled for some reason. It is the only building that survived the devastating earthquake of 1861.
This historical corner of Mendoza, like most squares of the city, is immersed in greenery. There are palm trees brought from the Canary Islands and white poplars, in the shade of which you can relax after long but interesting historical forays.
