Mendoza

Climbing Aconcagua, 17 days

Description:

The expedition to Aconcagua begins in the resort town of Mendoza, which is also called the grape capital of Argentina. This city is located at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. Arriving in Mendoza, the expedition members can sleep and rest. The next day we will head upstairs to Puento Del Inca, the closest hotel to the national park (2700 meters above sea level). The next morning we are taken to the entrance to Aconcagua National Park, and this is where we begin the walking part of our expedition.

The first transition to the Confluence camp (3300m) is quite simple and lasts only three to four hours (some participants pass this section even in 1.5 hours!). In Confluence, the group spends the two nights necessary for acclimatization. On the day of rest, we will climb Plaza France (4100 meters). Next, the group advances to the base camp of Plaza de Mulas (4450m) - the beginning of the classic ascent route to Aconcagua along the Northwest ridge. The transition will be from 7 to 8 hours. After the transition, we rest the day in base camp, gathering strength for the first acclimatization exit.

We will establish several camps – Plaza Canada (altitude 5000 m), Nido de Codores (Condor Nest, 5600 m) and the second exit – assault camp in the town of Berlin (6000 m). The climb to the top of Aconcagua is scheduled for 12-14 days depending on the weather and the condition of the participants. After climbing, we descend to base camp and celebrate the success of the expedition. In one long enough day we will go through the whole track and in the evening we will be in Mendoza with a hot shower and delicious steaks. There are more than one and a half thousand wineries in the city, and climbers can take part in tasting magnificent wines and buy drinks they like.
