Ushuai Maritime Museum

Yaganes 9410 Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

About the company:

There are few museums in the world that can boast of their unusual location. The Ushuai Maritime Museum can do this with ease. Its halls and exhibits occupied the former prison of Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost point of our planet.

Those who have visited this museum share their vivid impressions, calling it local lore. In addition to the stories of various geographical discoveries and sea voyages around Tierra del Fuego, tourists will hear about the local population, ancient tribes, traditions and legends associated with the mysterious Tierra del Fuego. Here you can learn a lot about the history of the development of the Arctic, about whaling and, of course, about the northern lights.

Among the traditional exhibits characteristic of maritime museums, a variety of naval ships are exhibited in Ushuai, there are models of the Norwegian ship Frama and the ship Beagle. The guide will tell you about the development of the local fleet.

In 1997, the National Congress recognized the museum as a National Historic Monument.

Tickets to all of its exhibitions are valid for two days or 48 hours. The cost of an adult will be 90 Argentine pesos, students will cost 60 Argentine pesos, and a family ticket, which involves the passage of two adults and two children, costs 200 Argentine pesos.
