Harvest Festival in Armenia

Description:

The Harvest Festival...
On the second Sunday of October, harvest day is celebrated in Armenian villages. In 2006, this holiday was held in Masis, where President Robert Kocharyan was on a working visit.

Almost a hundred covered tables were bursting with abundance: baskets with vegetables and fruits, all sorts of meat and even fish delicacies (Armenian caviar, Ishkhan), drinks, dairy and bakery products, sweets - all can not be listed. Residents of 93 villages and 4 communities of the region not only “bragged” about their achievements, but also jealously looked around the neighboring tables.

They tried to outdo each other in serving, decoration - funny figurines from vegetables, fruit "still lifes" and other "designer delights." The Armenian peasants treated the president with generous land, and Robert Kocharyan, in turn, without offending anyone (although it seemed unlikely that the head of state would bypass all 97 tables), treated each “mini-exhibition” of domestic production with attention.

The fertile Ararat Valley, once again confirming its title “the breadbasket of Armenia”, thanked the farmers for their hard work with a generous harvest. Residents of the region are satisfied with the results: the processing industry in the region is developing at a serious pace, there is someone to sell products. They did not complain to the president “for life”: “If there is no war, then we will work and create.”

In 2007, the President celebrated the holiday in the city of Martuni.
