Travel abroad: preparation of necessary documents

A long-awaited vacation, summer vacation, or business trip has come, and you plan to have a good time abroad. It is time to pack your bags and prepare all the necessary documents for your trip.

In order not to overshadow the joyful event with documentary shortcomings, you should make a list of papers in advance. This list may vary depending on which holiday destination you choose, the purpose of your trip, and whether a child or adult is traveling abroad. What documents are needed to cross the borders of another country?

Preparation of documents

The set of documents required for entry into the territory of a foreign state usually includes:

Foreign passport

A passport is the main and first document that is required for a trip abroad. The passport must be valid at the time of the trip and contain free pages for stamps. Foreign passports vary depending on the validity period:

From 3 to 6 months; 5 years; 10 years (biometric).

Remember that the registration of a passport takes a lot of time (according to the standards, the issuance period is one month, but in reality the procedure can take longer, for example, in the midst of the tourist season), so you need to take care of this in advance.

Visa

It should be issued for countries that have a visa regime. For residents of Russia, a visa-free regime operates in the CIS countries and at the most popular resorts, such as Thailand, Egypt, Turkey, Vietnam, the Dominican Republic, etc. To obtain a visa, each country establishes its own list of documents, which should be studied in detail. As well as for a passport, obtaining a visa can sometimes take a long time, so you should think about it in advance.

Health insurance policy (health insurance)

Health insurance is increasingly one of the most important travel documents. It is impossible to dispute the need for insurance for a relaxing holiday in another country. In some countries, in particular the Schengen area, having a policy is a prerequisite for obtaining a visa. But even if a visa-free regime is established with the country, the state can require insurance to enter its territory.

Tourist voucher

A tourist voucher is a desirable document when traveling abroad. It's easier to cross the border with it because this one confirms that you've actually paid for your trip or bought a tour. Tourist voucher acts as a kind of guarantee that you will definitely be allowed at border control.

Tickets.

Increasingly, one of the conditions for obtaining a visa is the availability of tickets or their reservation. Round-trip tickets help when passing border control, as they serve as a guarantee that a person will stay in a foreign country for a limited period of time, after which he will return home.

Military ticket

For men of military age, the presence of a military card is welcome for the smooth passage of border control. This, however, is not enshrined in Russian law, but sometimes manifests itself in practice (in situations where men evading conscription are prevented from crossing the border).

Before traveling, it is also important to pay all debts and taxes in your state so that you can easily cross the border.

Traveling with a child

If you are planning a trip abroad with a child, you need to take care of all the rules when crossing the border with children. A personal passport is issued to minor children over 14 years old, which is issued at the request of parents or guardians. For minor children under 14 years of age, the following travel rules apply:

Children can enter in the passport of parents (documents only of the old sample).

For the child, their own passport is issued, if the parents have a biometric passport.

A child's birth certificate is also required for the travel of minors.

If the trip is planned for a child without his parents, then you need a notarized consent of the parents, which is issued for the accompanying child, whether it is any relative, coach or teacher. It is possible to write an application for a multiple departure of the child abroad, which indicates all the countries where the child is allowed to leave. To travel with one of the parents, you should also write the permission of the second parent to leave the child abroad (this is often one of the conditions for obtaining a visa).

Visit by invitation

To enter the country at the invitation of relatives or a friend, you should take with you documents confirming this: marriage certificate, birth certificate, invitation from a friend. The latter can serve as an alternative to the tourist voucher.

Business trip

In the case of a trip abroad, the following are added to the standard list of documents:

Memorandum, which explains the purpose of the trip sent abroad, the reasons why this employee is sent, and also establishes the terms of the trip

Itinerary (in case of travel by personal or corporate transport).

Travel certificate (if the employee goes on a business trip to the CIS countries)

Now you know what documents are needed to travel abroad. For a quiet rest, as they say "just in case", it is desirable to make copies of all important papers, putting them in a separate folder. You should also issue a copy of the Russian passport certified by a notary (page with photo, personal data and registration). You don't need a passport on your trip. All these copies will be needed in case of loss of any documents, which will speed up the procedure for their restoration or temporary issuance. Also abroad you can use color photos for each participant of the trip (3.5 x 4.5 cm). Having collected all the necessary documentation and thoroughly prepared for the trip, your vacation will pass without difficulty and will bring you a lot of positive emotions.
