It's a holiday every day! Festivals around the world in late August

Holiday in itself is one big holiday, but how great to be at a real carnival! If you still have not decided where to go to relax, we suggest you find out where in late August you will find a real holiday.

The Siena Palio is a traditional Italian horse race that takes place twice a year (July 2 and August 16) in the medieval city of Siena in the heart of Italy. During the race, participants must drive three laps through the main square, one lap takes about 90 seconds, but the turns are so steep that sometimes the horse ends the competition without a jockey. True, in this case, the victory is read out, only the rider does not receive money.

Don't like horse racing? It’s okay, because tourists from all over the world are attracted not only by this. Corteo Storico – a mandatory ritual preceding the race – annually gathers a thousand spectators. In the main square there is a procession with flags. At this time, real medieval romance comes to life on the streets of Siena: representatives of the contrades walk in medieval costumes, people dance and sing, processions of drummers are held, and policemen are transplanted onto horses.

International Fireworks Festival in Scheveningen. If the medieval and hot temperament of Italians is not for you, head to the Netherlands Fireworks Festival. 4 fascinating nights on the North Sea coast will definitely turn your holiday into something amazing, because what holiday without fireworks?

The fireworks show is a serious competition, participants must spend an equal amount of money, and 80% of the fireworks must be original, that is, invented and produced in their own country. The jury noted the originality, musical accompaniment, colorist of the room. Therefore, it will definitely not be boring: music, fireworks and the sea, in which, among other things, you can try yourself in windsurfing. The festival takes place in Scheveningen, 4 days from 12 to 20 August.

La Tomatina. For those who like not only to observe, but also to take an active part - it is definitely worth going to Spain for a tomato battle. Every year in the small town of Buñol people come from different parts of the world to fight, the main weapon in which is tomato!

“War” does not last all week, in “peacetime” you can visit the fair, dance plenty, listen to a Spanish guitar, and of course, enjoy the sunsets of Spain. However, throughout the festival, local residents close their windows with special plastic shutters.

The festival is held in honor of the patron saint of the city of St. Louis Bertrand and Our Lady-Defender. The tradition began in 1945. As you know, at one of the holidays, two friends in a comic skirmish began to throw tomatoes at each other, as a result, the joke turned into a great tradition that attracts thousands of tourists every year to come to a small town near Valencia, on the last Wednesday of August (31.08.2016).

When there is no opportunity to go on vacation abroad, but you still want to have a holiday, you can look at domestic festivals, especially if you are a lover of loud music and extreme sports.

For example, the Lenovo Moto Fest festival is held in several cities of Russia. In addition to spectacular stunts on bicycles and boards, on the Lenovo site you can dance to the live performance of your favorite bands, often at the festival perform such groups as Bi-2, Brainstorm, DJ Smash, etc. You can see when the festival will be in your city on their official website - http://fest.lenovo.ru/.

If you want more vivid emotions and colors, welcome to ColorFest, which is also held in different cities of Russia in late August. It is not difficult to guess, the festival is something similar to Holi Fest, which is held in India. Participants of the festival receive special colors, which, by the way, are easily washed off the skin and clothes, and triple the real battle with colored spices. All this is accompanied by songs and performances of popular Russian bands. You can find out all the details here - https://www.facebook.com/colorfest.ru.

If all of the above festivals you found not so exciting, we bring to your attention Burning Man - a festival held in the United States, Nevada, in the Black Rock desert.

For a whole week in the desert you can see works of modern art, often of incredible size. Most of them are burned by their creators before the end of the week, but absolutely everything must be destroyed on the last day of the festival. Hundreds of “mutated” cars roam the desert, and people walk in costumes of incredible shapes. Naturally, the festival is not complete without dance and music, various DJs and artists are invited.

The most interesting thing is that participation in the festival as an observer is not particularly welcome, at least something, but you need to burn! Also, one of the principles of such a radical festival is “leave no trace” – all objects of art are burned. At the end of the week, a large sculpture burns. This holiday of absurdity and fun takes place on the last Monday of August (29.08.2016) and lasts a week.

As mentioned above, holidays are always a holiday. However, it is always nice to spend it unusually, to see and learn something new. Plan your vacation in advance, look for something that suits you, because every day in the world, someone celebrates something.
