BORA BORA, PARADISE AT THE END OF THE WORLD.
If there is a paradise on earth, then Bora Bora is probably one of those places where you can look for it. Crystal clear waters, lush tropical vegetation, beautiful beaches, towering above all this splendor the remains of an extinct volcano – all this wonderful place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean may not be paradise, but exactly the place where God drew his inspiration when he created the Earth. Bora Bora is the most famous of the islands of the Society Island archipelago belonging to French Polynesia. The island is located at a distance of 240 kilometers from another, no less famous magical corner - the island of Tahiti. The kingdom of tropical greenery, the unique beauty of the Bora Bora lagoon, rightly considered one of the most beautiful in the Pacific Ocean, the richness of the underwater world, peace and tranquility deservedly turned the island into one of the most exquisite resorts on the planet.
The hallmark of Bora Bora became bungalows on stilts, standing in the middle of the lagoon - a true embodiment of the dream of paradise life. It seems that the trends of the modern world are not powerful here.
The island of Bora Bora, this lost paradise in the Pacific Ocean, managed to preserve its pristine beauty, which made it one of the most famous, magical, wonderful places on the planet.
Europeans, however, discovered this island in the 18th century – the famous James Cook sailed here in 1769, and landed for the first time in 1777. But Bora Bora, due to its remoteness from the rest of the world, remained for many, many years as it wanted to see the indigenous inhabitants of these places, appeared here around 400 AD.
Only in the twentieth century, the islands annexed by France, felt some influence of civilization - during the war years, an American military base was located on Bora Bora, thanks to which the shores of the island bristled with military guns. But fate kept the island - not a single battle here never happened, and in 1946 the base was completely closed.
