"To live in the North"
"To live in the North." This slogan, which stuck in my soul "Sports in the North", I saw something in this spirit - I don't remember. In fact, “Live in the North” is not just a slogan, but a whole development program. Murmansk regionUntil 2030.
Time will tell how the development program went, but I am ready to share my impressions about this place now.
So, I didn't plan the trip, it all happened suddenly. You know, like in a hundred to one program, when you answer 5 questions quickly and without hesitation in 15 seconds. Just 1-2 minutes and we have already booked tickets.
The plan of the trip was also Seryogin, and actually what was I hoping for? The only thing I can thank him for is that I'm hysterical about settling in Aurora (you know, right?) The hotel was so domed, we would not have seen the Northern Lights.
Night in Apatity, "retro" room, delicious desserts for the morning, half-melt sculptures in the square and we are on the way to Kirovsk, as it later turned out to be the birthplace of our former governor Chirkunov and Antokha, well, that redhead from "Real Boys".
Mountains, mountains, colorful houses and bad water – this is how I can describe this city, where we had to stay for 3 days (we had to because the tundra has its own plans for spring). The tundra has its own plans, and we have pure improvisation to entertain ourselves.
What to do in Kirovsk?
1) go skiing (yes, yes, go, everything within walking distance is divine). We walked to it for 2 days - visibility is zero, the wind speed is cosmic (we had to wait). But when you're upstairs, you look like a gun and a cafe? The cafeteria in the evening is just space, if anything, I mean backlighting.
2) to rent cross-country skis, skiing is good, well, it is also rented in Africa, in the park to swing on the swing.
3) go to an unrealistically cool museum, where there are a lot of beautiful pebbles, but in such places I always think of my friend, a geologist, for whom it is sulfites, sulfates, carbonates.
4) walk around the city: the cities in these places are young and the architecture is appropriate, all the 20th century, which immediately catches the eye, beautiful, neat and pleasing to the eye ... Also, cool painted houses like this approach to the urban environment.
Having successfully waited out the storm in Kirovsk, we moved to Murmansk.
Murmansk - the capital of the Arctic, the fish capital, this city has such unofficial names.
From Murmansk we planned to move to Teriberka, where I wanted to cross paths with a friend, but as I wrote, the tundra decided otherwise. So we had no choice but to go out in the evenings and catch the lights in the city.
The second tick was successfully set - the radiance was seen.
What to do in Murmansk?
1) walk around the city, the theme of 20th century architecture is preserved in this city, there is a lot of illumination, it is nice to walk in the evenings* instead of the embankment in the city seaport.
2 Oceanarium (dolfinarium), the building is very similar to our planetarium only a little smaller, what fish can fit in it, we never found out, because from the New Year it is closed.
3) follow the list of visits to the Lenin icebreaker, which was also safely closed.
4) well, and for a snack these days visits for some reason closed the Museum of the Northern fleet * there is still a local history and art Museum.
5) walk to the monument "Defenders of the Soviet Arctic" (also "Alyosha")... In fact, the monument is located in another part of the city, but it is not difficult to walk and get to it. The scale is surprising, it is the second highest memorial (42.5 m) in Russia (after the Motherland).
6) on the way to the statue "Alyosha" you can go through the memorial "Seafarers who died in peacetime"* in places like Murmansk entertainment program definitely need to think ahead and be sure to keep in mind plan "B" (especially in winter).
