On the retreating crisis in the tourism market

According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the financial crisis has significantly affected a relatively flexible system such as global tourism. Since 2010, there has been a significant increase in the number of trips and, according to WTO forecasts, the level of world tourism will reach pre-crisis levels by the end of 2010. While in many developed countries, the economic rebalancing has not been completed, tourism It plays an important role in this recovery. It is not only a reliable means of solving the problem of unemployment, but also a good opportunity for export earnings in conditions of insufficient consumption of goods and services within the country. Since the end of 2008, there has been a slight decrease in the number of travel in the world, which reached its peak in 2009. During the crisis, requests for travel have also changed, so many countries, entering the fight for tourists, are introducing new measures to attract them and adapt to changing conditions of demand. The EU countries are facing an acute problem of a shortage of tourists wishing to visit Europe. Their number in 2009 decreased by 6% compared to 2008 and, according to the WTO, the total amount received from tourism funds fell by 8% to 362 billion dollars. The situation has been complicated by rising air travel prices and the temporary closure of airspace following a volcanic eruption in Iceland this spring. And in June, the European Union openly announced its plans to attract tourists from Russia. China, as well as other countries such as Brazil, Japan, India. The goal is to attract young and older people as they have more free time. However, developing countries also count on this group of tourists. To attract young people to EU countries, it was proposed to make it possible to book rooms, book train and plane tickets via SMS, as well as use technology more often and more widely to promote tourism. To attract older people, it was planned to make the opportunity to visit attractions for people with disabilities more accessible. But despite all the measures taken by the EU countries, in 2010, Asian countries and the group of Pacific countries led the growth in the number of tourist visits.
The peculiarity of the world post-crisis tourism was influenced by the rise in air ticket prices: people began to show a tendency to lay more close to home routes, so the demand for domestic tourism increased. Active agitation of citizens to travel within their country, is a strong move in the fight for the division of tourists. Domestic tourism is also an important link in strengthening the economy of states.
In general, by now the number of travelers has actually reached the pre-crisis level, so planning a route for the near future, do not expect a change in the number of tourists associated with the past crisis. The crisis has made a significant change in the cost of air travel, including in Russia. Despite the decrease in fuel prices, airfare prices have risen from 30 to 300%, and European fares are expected to increase by an average of 10% by next year. This increase in prices is due to a lack of competition or a post-crisis increase in demand for air travel. The Federal Antimonopoly Service has planned to conduct an inspection related to the increase in tariffs. However, some experts believe that many Russian companies are operating at a loss due to low occupancy. The price increase may also affect the cost of accommodation in European hotels, which, according to the analytical portal Trivago, has already increased by an average of 8%.
