Holiday in Russia in 2026: prices, new routes and popular destinations
Russia is affected by the massive trend in vacationing Instead of flights and railroads.
Travelers are increasingly choosing flexible schedules, the ability to stop along the way and explore new places without being tied to the transport schedule. This choice is especially popular among families with children and groups of friends planning joint trips.
At the same time, tourists prefer budget accommodation: instead of sanatoriums, they choose hotels or apartments, and tours without food allow them to independently plan their diet and save. This approach gives more freedom and helps to adapt the rest to personal preferences.
At the same time, the average check for a summer trip in 2026 for two in Russia, compared to last year, rose by only 4–6%. This is due to increased competition among hoteliers and the development of alternative accommodation formats, including glamping, mini-hotels and private guesthouses.
How much does it cost to relax in popular regions of Russia in 2026?
Here are the approximate prices for two people:
Krasnodar region (9 nights) - 100,000-130 000 rubles. The region remains the leader in demand due to the developed infrastructure, beaches and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.
Crimea (10 nights) – 117,000–150,000 rubles. The peninsula is attracted by picturesque landscapes, historical sights and mild climate.
St. Petersburg (4-5 nights) – 40 000-60,000 rubles. The city remains popular for short cultural trips, with museums, excursions and white nights still top of the list.
Caucasian Mineral Waters (10 nights) – 140,000–150,000 rubles. The direction is chosen for healing springs, mountain routes and quiet rest away from noisy resorts.
Moscow region (7 nights) - 95 000-125 000 rubles. The proximity to Moscow, natural parks and estates make the region a convenient option for those who want to relax close to home.
Moscow (4 nights) - 25,000-30,000 rubles. The capital attracts tourists with theaters, exhibitions, gastronomy and large-scale urban events.
What else has changed in tourism?
In 2026 in Russia decreased the depth of booking tours. According to ATOR Vice President for Domestic Tourism Sergey Romashkin, Russians used to book vacations in advance, but now they are in no hurry to do so.
Reasons:
the stability of airports;
shortage of rail transport;
Natural disasters and accidents before the start of the season
strengthening of the ruble, which has made outbound destinations more attractive.
“The reasons for the observed cooling of domestic demand are complex. The general economic slowdown in consumption in various industries is superimposed by the instability of airports, the rise in prices for hotel accommodation, natural disasters and accidents of various kinds before the start of the season, as well as the competition of domestic resorts with outbound destinations against the background of the strengthening of the ruble. Nevertheless, during the summer season, it is possible to intensify bookings - for example, due to the promotion of Anapa and various kinds of promotions by hoteliers, which are already available for June, the speaker explained.
Beach holidays are the main trend of the season
The share of beach holiday format is growing among Russians. This suggests that people are concentrating on one big trip a year - with their family at sea. Short weekend trips are getting smaller. Compared to last year, the share of summer beach bookings increased from 58% to 71%.
Development prospects
High-speed highway from Moscow to SochiAccording to Romashkin, it could help in terms of logistics. The expert noted that this railway route could become a tourist breakthrough: it would reduce travel time, increase comfort and make rest in the south more accessible to residents of central Russia.
The most popular holiday destinations in Russia
According to the section on domestic tourism at the briefing in the framework of the annual award of the Association of tour operators l’eto, the distribution of demand looks like this:
Krasnodar region - 51%;
Crimea - 19%;
Caucasian Mineral Waters - 11 percent.
Moscow and the Moscow region - 8%;
St. Petersburg and Leningrad region – 6%;
Other regions of the Russian Federation – 5%.
These figures confirm that Russians still choose proven resorts, but at the same time show interest in new locations and leisure formats.
