I am back in July 2008... It was a good time. Meetings, acquaintances, interesting people, memorable places, bright events. One of these events was the Grand Voyage – Journey from Yekaterinburg to Kurgan.

I had to get to my destination by train. Tickets were purchased in advance. At the station on the electronic scoreboard I found the number of the path and platform. She rushed to her train.

The people were bustling near the carriages, as the cerberians stood guides (may these servants forgive me for such an unpleasant comparison). For some reason, my first class was not the first class, TV seats were empty, air conditioning served as open windows, from a hint of privilege there were only velour chairs, the first class ended. Then on accelerated scrolling tickets, fellow travelers, seeing off, departure. The road promised to be very pleasant.

After 5 hours I got off at Zaozerny station. Well, here's the glorious city of Kurgan.

How did I remember him? Slow, calm, measured. I am a resident of a large metropolis and for me the difference of moving particles is very noticeable.

Like any city, Mound has its own charisma. There is so much to see, so much to admire. We are the people of our cities, and we do not see what they see. For them, our routine is new photos in a photo album.

You can move around the city by public transport - trolleybuses and minibuses, as well as by taxi. We used both, did not notice anything special, everything is like everywhere.

The first association that comes to mind is the Institute of Orthopedics named after G.A. Ilizarov. In principle, it does not apply to resting places, but a few words must be said. This is the Russian Scientific Center where you can use the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of bones, muscles and vessels of the musculoskeletal system. This is a wonderful place where people are put on their feet in a literal and figurative sense.

You should definitely visit the City Garden. In the parks, everyone finds their charm, someone remote corners for unity with nature, someone a childhood holiday with carousels and sweet cotton candy, but in any case, this is a place that always gives a lot of positive emotions. There is also in Kurgan the Central Park of Culture and Recreation and the Victory Park. So lovers of walking will have something to take time.

To better get acquainted with the nature of the Kurgan, you need to visit the suburban recreation area. River Tobol, Blue Lakes, Uval, Whispers... That little thing that will help you paint your Kurgan landscape.

Returning to the city, I note, first of all, the Kurgan Regional Philharmonic – the place of evening gatherings of Kurgan youth. Well, during the day it is an institution of culture, professionally engaged in educational and concert activities in the field of classical musical art. Also at the service of connoisseurs of the beautiful Kurgan State Drama Theater. Kurgan Puppet Theater "Gulliver" is one of the oldest puppet theaters of the Russian Federation, a laureate and a diploma winner of international and Russian festivals.

There are many different museums in Kurgan, but tour guides will tell you about them better, I will just list their names so that everyone chooses something to their liking. Kurgan Regional Museum of Local History, Kurgan Regional Art Museum, House-Museum of Decembrists, House-Museum of V.K. Kyukhelbeker, Museum of the History of the City of Kurgan, House-Museum of T.S. Maltsev, Kurgan Aviation Museum.

The Kurgan is rich in monuments of history and architecture. The lens of your camera will like a lot. But have time to see objects directly on the spot, not in the photos in the album. The photo will be just a piece, and in the moment of your presence, you will be able to observe it in conjunction with the surrounding nature, you will present a more holistic picture. After all, the location also carries a certain semantic load, transmits energy.

Monuments of cult significance of the Kurgan region include: Dalmatovsky Monastery, Spaso-Transfiguration Cathedral, St. Nicholas, Shirokov and Pershi Church, the Church of the Three Saints, the Church of Flora and Laurus.

Most of the churches that are objects of cultural heritage of the Kurgan region were founded in the late XVIII - early XIX centuries. Many of them, especially monuments of federal significance, are considered outstanding examples of such architectural styles as Baroque and Classicism. Unfortunately, by now many elements of the buildings have been lost, the buildings themselves are in a dilapidated state.

The most characteristic monuments of urban planning and architecture are well-preserved merchant houses of the late XIX - early XX centuries. One of them is Dunaev’s house in Kurgan.

A striking example of architecture of recent history is the ensemble of Lenin Square in Kurgan, a monument of urban planning and architecture. The square is unique with the use of stylistic and compositional planning solutions of the neoclassical direction in Soviet architecture. Solemnity and monumentality are the main features of this ensemble.

Catering places in Kurgan abound, you can eat delicious and inexpensive. We visited a place called “Fed Lord” and were quite satisfied.

Well, that's the little thing I remembered and was able to tell you. Somewhere I joked, somewhere I tried to be serious, but at the same time I hope I kept my objectivity and impartiality. I can tell you honestly - about any city better than me, only tell yourself after you visit it. We are all different, and we all have our own view of the world. Some see a little more, some see less. You can’t look at something and see it the same way. My advice to you is to travel, look around, capture moments, snatch details and make up your world, bright, big, beautiful.
