The most beautiful house of Yekaterinburg
Any guest of Yekaterinburg draws attention to the beautiful three-storey building of green color. You can't miss this house. It stands in the historical center of the city by the dam on Lenin Avenue 35. Any guest of Yekaterinburg asked himself: what kind of house is this and who lives there?
The house is considered the most beautiful in the city. This is Sevastyanov's house. Nikolai Sevastyanov was a successful businessman of his time. He became wealthy during the Yekaterinburg gold rush in the mid-19th century. In 1861, Sevastyanov bought a house in the city center, and hired a local architect Paduchev. The latter turned the mansion into a wonderful gingerbread house. Like many Ural merchants, Sevastyanov was envious of his colleagues from Moscow and St. Petersburg. They may have had less money, but they lived in two cities. Yekaterinburg was considered a remote province. Thus, the pretentious house of Sevastyanov in the very center was designed to declare to all visitors: Yekaterinburg is not some God-forgotten town, but the capital of the factory Urals!
Interestingly, the owner never lived in the house. They say he was content with little. In the courtyard of the luxurious mansion stood a small wooden house where Sevastyanov lived with his family. He rented out the house. However, every day Nikolai Sevastyanov went to the embankment, sat on the bench in front of his possession and watched the reaction of passers-by. And the passers-by stopped to exclaim, “What a beauty!” Like a century and a half ago, modern passers-by stop in front of Sevastyanov’s house, take pictures of him and admire the beauty of the mansion.
And who was the last resident of the house of Sevastyanov? The President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stayed there when he visited Yekaterinburg. In 2010, a new residence was built for him. However, they say that the house Sevastyanov liked our President much more.
