Non-departure insurance in detail

Waiting for a trip is one of the most pleasant. Tickets are bought, suitcases are carefully packed, and you already have all your thoughts on a wonderful holiday. What if unforeseen circumstances interfere with your travel plans? How to return the money spent if the holiday did not take place? Let's figure it out.

Unexpected refusal of leave can happen due to various circumstances: refused to issue a visa, you or your loved one became ill, failed to take a break from work – but there are few reasons?

Indeed, there is little pleasant in this: the money has already been invested, and travel agencies, as a rule, refuse to reimburse the cost of the ticket, since they themselves incur considerable losses due to your failed trip. The only way to compensate for this is to insure your trip in advance.

What is travel insurance?

It is important to know that travel insurance or not - the choice is completely voluntary. Such insurance can be bought separately to the ticket, as well as included in medical insurance or in the general insurance contract. However, remember that unforeseen circumstances when buying a ticket is better to take into account in advance. Travel insurance is becoming more and more relevant, as many countries have increasingly refused visas to travelers.

If the holiday does not take place, then hope that it will be possible to return all the money spent on the trip, of course, is not worth it, because tour operators in this case also incur significant costs - you need to pay the costs of hosts, air carriers, consulate, guides, etc. But travel insurance in this case will help 80-90% to reimburse the money spent. The tourist will be able to compensate for the purchase of air and railway tickets, the cost of hotel reservation, transfer, consulate collection, etc., but for this you will need to document the reason that forced you to abandon the tour. In addition, these circumstances themselves should fall under the category of insured event.

Insurance cases

If an unforeseen situation occurred for reasons beyond your control after you purchased a ticket and insurance, and led to the cancellation of the trip, then this may be recognized as an insured event. Usually, each company has its own list of risks that the insurance policy will cover. Consider what the most common cases can overshadow your vacation, but the insurance policy compensates them:

If you or a close relative suddenly become ill and need hospital treatment. In addition, this includes the death of the insured or his relative.

If you or your companions have contraindications to vaccination, and when entering the country without it can not do;

If, while you were resting, one of your relatives was hospitalized or died, and you had to interrupt your vacation ahead of time;

If you or one of your accompanying persons is denied a visa and you have joint insurance;

• If you are unexpectedly brought to court;

• If you are urgently drafted into the army or for military training;

• If your property has been damaged and the damage caused prevents you from travelling.

If you need a visa for your trip, then the insurance policy can be supplemented with insurance against non-issuance of a visa - then you will get back up to 90% of the money spent. Failure to issue a visa can also be an insured event, but only if your documents submitted to the consulate do not contain errors, and also if you have not previously been denied a visa.

When insurance doesn't work

In order not to add disappointment in insurance payments to the disappointment of a failed vacation, study all cases in which insurance will work in advance.

There will be no payment if:

You or your relative suddenly become ill or injured, but no hospital treatment is required.
• You have been injured while in alcohol, narcotics, or toxic intoxication;
• You suddenly feel unwell due to pregnancy
• You attempted suicide on the eve of your trip.
• The insured person was injured by conspiracy to receive insurance payments;
You or your family member have been arrested.
• There are errors in the processing of personal and travel documents;
• Travel dates are postponed by the tour operator or carrier;
• The travel company or carrier has ceased to exist;
• Travellers need to return home due to work needs.

In addition, any social and political conflicts, terrorist attacks, natural disasters and infectious epidemics in the country where you are going will not be insured events. Also, if you planned, but did not have time to pay for the trip, then you will not be compensated for any damage.

If you are in doubt about whether to insure against not leaving, then you need to consider every possible situation and weigh all possible risks.

How to insure against not leaving

Issuance of insurance against travel abroad is actually simple, you just need to familiarize yourself with some rules:

• The policy must be issued within three days after payment for the tour;
• The trip will take place in at least two weeks;
Circumstances will be recognized as insurance only if they occurred after payment of the ticket and insurance.

If your case still falls under the insurance category, then you will need to:

1. Notify your insurer of the incident within 24 hours;
2. Write a statement, which will specify the specific reasons for the inability to leave;
3. Present documents that confirm that the non-exit was lawful (for example, a certificate from a medical institution, a refusal of the consulate, a summons to the army, etc.);
4. Collect documents that confirm the costs incurred by you;
5. receive a cash payment on insurance;

It should be noted that if the purchased tour was “burning” or the insurance policy was not paid, then the losses incurred will not be reimbursed.

Thus, insurance against non-exit does not guarantee 100% refund in case of disruption of rest, but in some cases it will still work out to return money for spoiled rest.
