In the heart of Parma (part two - walking)

perm Open for pedestrian tourism, excursion routes are not only marked with noticeable lines on the bridge, but also equipped with information cabinets and an audio guide.

The most famous are the Green and Red Lines.

Green line.

The Green Line is a circular route with guide arrows covering 37 attractions.

The line begins from the “strangest monument” according to the magazine “Russian World”. This is a sculptural composition “Permyak – salty ears”. And from Permyak, in fact, only ears are presented, and curious people are given the opportunity to try them on themselves.

Next line follows to the house of the merchant Baranova. It is not only a monument of architecture, but a whole world, alive and active, with a long and interesting history. Here lived, worked, ate and entertained residents of more than one generation.

In general, two features of Perm should be noted: the great survivability of merchant buildings and the “personal” names of houses. Almost all the mansions kept in use the names of the famous owners: the house of the merchant Baranova, the house of the steamboat Meshkov, the Korolev rooms, the house of the merchant Gribushin, the house of Smyshlyaev, the house of Verderevsky, the house of merchants Izhboldin...

The appearance of the historical center of the city bears the seal of the “old regime” time.

There are very interesting museums on the Green Line. In the building of the Transfiguration Cathedral is still an art gallery. The museum boasts a unique collection of wooden sculptures called the Permian Gods. We are accustomed to perceive the Orthodox Church as decorated with icons, and religious sculpture is attributed to Catholic culture. This explains the shock for all spectators, when the figures of the saints and Christ appear literally “in the flesh”. The collection of the gallery also contains works by famous masters of European painting of the 17-19 centuries.

In the building of the former River Station is the Museum of Contemporary Art PERMM. Even if you do not look inside, the appearance of the creation of the famous architect Alexander Greenberg will leave an unforgettable impression. PERMM exhibits works by A. Brodsky, V. Komar and A. Melamid, P. Bely, L. Sokov, A. Osmolovsky and other artists whose names are well known to fans of contemporary Russian art.

In the house of the steamboat Meshkov is the Perm Museum of Local Lore, which will open before you the pages of the ancient history of the region, rooted in the Neolithic past. Connoisseurs and fans of the world-famous “Perm animal style” should definitely see the exposition of this museum. Also here are the riches of the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms of the region.

Branches of the Local History Museum are: Museum of Perm Antiquities, creative laboratory Children's Museum Center, Museum-diorama on the mountain HSE and others. You can visit all branches before your trip, there is a virtual branch on the site of the Local History Museum.

Exclusive gifts in the Perm animal style, as well as unique books and other souvenirs can be bought in the Internet center "Senator" and in the KAMWA boutique on the street. Zvezda, 5.

Further along the route, you will find the Korolev Rooms, the Smyshlyaev House (Pushkin Library), the Mariinsky Women's Gymnasium, the Perm Opera House, the house for theater artists and the choreographic school, the house of the merchant Gribushin, the merchant Gavrilov and the merchant Mikhailov, the zero kilometer and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.

Red line

The red line is a unique route, built according to the author’s idea of local historian Vladimir Gladyshev, based on his book “Land of Love”.

The route includes 16 objects related to the love stories of the residents of Perm and its guests, happy and tragic stories that unite people of different eras - from Peter Vyazemsky to Gaidar and Mayakovsky.

Line routes sometimes overlap in the same buildings. So, the Royal numbers became Royal after they were captured and taken away for execution Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich Romanov.

The red line is also provided with audio accompaniment and information stands.

Perm industrial

Much interest is the capital of the Perm region and for lovers of industrial tourism.

The famous Motovilikha is no longer a merchant provincial city, but a factory city. It officially entered Perm in 1930. In the history of Russia, Motovilikha left a mark no less than the Uralmash or the Chelyabinsk Tankograd, only the Perm giant specialized in the production of artillery. Perm cannon factories regularly supplied the army with artillery guns and cores.

Motovilikha was a platform for the introduction of the most advanced technologies. Here the first Martynovsky furnace in the Urals was launched, the world’s first electric welding technology was applied. On the territory of the plant there is a house-museum of Nikolai Gavrilovich Slavyanov, a talented engineer who developed the arc welding method. We know about the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell since childhood, but about the Hammer Tsar weighing 50 tons you can find here in Motovilikh.

The Museum of History "Motovilikhin Plants" has two expositions: in the halls and in the open air.

If, after visiting the museums of the plant, you can climb the nearby HSE hill, you can see Diorama, dedicated to the revolutionary events of 1905. From the mountain there is a wonderful view of the center of Perm and the Transfiguration Cathedral.

Also in Perm you can visit the Museum of the History of Perm Motor Engineering, the Museum of the LUKOIL Corporation.

Street sculpture

Perm has original sculptural compositions. These are not only the usual bronze statues in the style of naive realism, but also modern art objects that will become the best background for a selfie on a trip.

Happiness-not-beyond-the-mountains – the project of the Moscow artist Boris Matrosov became popular after the comedy series “Real Boys” and the film “Geograph Globes Propyl”. However, even reproduced in hundreds of images, the view does not get worse.

In front of the Gorky library is an impressive bitten apple by sculptor Zhanna Kadyrova, symbolizing the cruelty of thoughtless consumption. Bricks in the composition are borrowed from the collapsed walls of historical buildings.

There is a monument to the heart in Perm, a huge anatomical model of red granite weighing 4 tons is installed in the courtyard of the Heart Institute.

In Perm, there is really something to see and wonder about. Come here!
