Flag alley
Description:
Located in the Portrait Gallery area, the alley with flags is the largest in the world. It highlights Australia’s international contacts with other countries. The flags of 96 countries, including the United Nations and the European Union, are currently flying.
The alley appeared somewhat earlier than Commonwealth Square and was opened in January 1999. Under each flag there is a special plaque on which an inscription is made with the name of the country to which this flag belongs. The most interesting and spectacular to watch them in windy weather when they develop. They will have a magnificent view at night, as all the flags are illuminated, and their reflection is visible on the water of the lake. Surrounding this alley are many picturesque green lawns and trees.
