National Museum of Australia

Lennox Crossing, National Museum of Australia, Acton ACT 2601

About the company:

This museum is located in the capital of Australia, Canberra, and more precisely in its suburb of Acton. It contains items related to the 50,000-year history and culture of the Aboriginal people, the Olympics in Sydney, the history of the country after 1788. Within the walls of the national museum there is a collection of drawings of local residents made on the bark of trees, tools made of stone, a prototype of the very first car of Australia. Today there are five permanent exhibitions in the museum.

The date of the opening is considered to be March 2001, when the centenary of the founding of the Australian Federation was celebrated. The idea of creating such a museum was born at the dawn of the 20th century. It was only in 1980 that a special decree was passed by the parliament on its creation.

The building is built in postmodern style, and the total area is 6600 square meters. Separate rooms are connected to each other, forming a semicircle, called the Garden of Australian Dreams. Before the entrance to the museum stands an orange sculpture called the Uluru Line, which is made in the form of a loop that unfolds along Acton.

The National Museum of Australia was named the country’s top tourist attraction between 2005 and 2006.
