Pinnaclee Desert
Nambung National Park, WA 6521, Australia
Description:
The Pinnaclee Rocky Desert is one of the most popular places in Australia. Its unusual landscapes with lonely vertical monuments attract tourists from all over the world. Almost throughout the desert area there are strange limestone pillars of seemingly extraterrestrial origin.
The height of the strange columns reaches about three meters. To the disappointment of many, their origins have nothing to do with extraterrestrial civilizations. Monuments-obelisks were formed as a result of thousands of years of erosion, during which the sun and wind carved rocks into bizarre objects. For a long time, the Pinnaclee Desert was little explored and only in 1960 was included in the territory of the national park. The first tourist routes were organized in 2008 and now visiting the rocks in the Pinnaclee desert has reached the peak of its popularity.
The best season to visit the Pinnaclee desert is from August to October. At this time, the day is not so hot and in some places the desert turns into flowering meadows.
