Japanese garden Ju Raku En

5 Bow Ct, Darling Heights QLD 4350, Toowoomba Qld, Australia

Description:

Ju Raku Yen Garden is the largest Japanese garden in Australia. It is located in the small town of Toowoomba, or rather on the campus of South Queensland. The garden stretches over an area of about 4.5 hectares and is among the best examples of garden art outside Japan.

In addition to its large area, Ju Raku Yen Park is famous among Japanese parks in Australia for being a model designed most traditionally. The concept of the garden was developed over three years by the Japanese specialist Professor Kinsaku Nakane. Arriving in Queensland from Kyoto, he carefully selected every little thing: every stone, every bush and other elements. The master sought to achieve true perfection. Even more time was spent on the implementation of the master’s plan, and after many years of efforts, the grand opening took place – this happened in April 1989.

The name of the park is translated into Russian as “enjoy peace and longevity in a public place”. These words reflect the essence of the concept of the initiators of its creation - Ju Raku Yen Garden is a public place. Everyone can get here, its gates are always open to visitors who are happy to come here to enjoy the amazing combination of Eastern and Western cultures.
