St. Gergia Cathedral

38 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000, Australia

Description:

St. George's Cathedral is the main Anglican temple in Western Australia, in the city of Perth. The cathedral belongs to the Anglican Diocese and is located in the heart of the city.

St. George's Cathedral was designed by architect Blackett Edmund in 1888 in the Neo-Gothic style of handmade brick made in Perth and replaced the old building located southwest. In 1968, the cathedral was severely damaged by an earthquake and was restored only in 2005-2008. Two new walls were added to protect against possible earthquakes.

Today, St. George’s Cathedral has become popular not only for its architecture but also for its innovative and controversial theological teachings. In the temple you can hear popular sermons, the purpose of which is the desire for interfaith unity and faith associated with music and culture. At the cathedral there is an educational center and an arts promotion fund. Often in the building of the temple arrange solo concerts, art exhibitions and lectures. All this was made possible by the support of the St. George Foundation.
