Chinese Friendship Garden
Sydney CBD New South Wales 2000, Australia
Description:
In the southernmost part of the hemisphere, far from home, is a traditional Chinese garden. It was built in Sydney in 1988 as a sign of cooperation between the Australian and Chinese governments. The Friendship Garden was designed in detail according to ancient Chinese garden planning standards and is a piece of another culture. All guests and residents of Sydney can get acquainted with it.
The garden was created by specialists from Guangzhou, which is a sister city of Sydney. The main difference between decorative Chinese gardens and the usual European landscapes is that they do not have specially planted flower beds and trimmed lawns. Instead, wildlife corners are created in the natural area - miniature waterfalls, mountains, lakes and forests. According to the classical tradition of Chinese gardens, the territory evenly and harmoniously combines four main elements - water, plants, stones and architecture.
