Graz Airport
Description:
Graz Airport is a small international airport located in Austria, south of the city of Graz. The airport carries less than a million passengers per year, but is still considered an important transport hub of the European Union.
Graz is a very old airport. It was built in 1914, just before the First World War. At the same time, part of the modern territory of the airport was occupied by the Austrian concentration camp Talerhof, one of the first concentration camps in modern history. Today, the name "Talerhof" is preserved as the second official name of the airport, and nothing more than a concentration camp. After the war, Graz continued to develop and soon opened to commercial aviation, with its first flight in 1925.
During the twentieth century, Graz was constantly modernized, and today it is quite modern, albeit a small airport. There are three runways on the territory of Graz, but only one of them is capable of receiving heavy aircraft. The annual passenger traffic is no more than 900 thousand people, and the geography of the countries is limited mainly to Europe.
