Innsbruck Town Hall

Herzog-Friedrich-Str. 21, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria

Description:

The Old Town Hall in the centre of Innsbruck was built between 1442 and 1450. In 1529, a caretaker of the tower was elected, whose function was also to notify residents of fires or other emergencies. After some time, the lower floors of the building with the tower began to be used as cells for prisoners, this is reminiscent of the surviving bars on the windows.

The town hall is now open to visit. You can climb to see Innsbruck, one of the most beautiful cities in Austria. The height of the tower is 51 meters, the observation deck is at a height of 31 meters. The Gothic tower stands out against the background of the building and the quarter as a whole and is considered the second most important landmark of the city.
