Ambras Castle
Schloß straß e 20, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria
Description:
Ambrass Castle, located in the Austrian city of Innsbruck, is one of the main attractions of the city.
The construction of the castle dates back to the time of Ferdinand II, a Habsburg ruler who patronized art and culture. He founded his own Ambrass Palace Museum with various exhibits located in the lower fortress.
Spanish Hall of the castle length of 43 meters is one of the most beautiful free-standing halls of the Renaissance. Wall paintings of the hall depict the rulers of the Tyrolean lands. In the hall in the summer there are concerts of ancient music.
In the kunstkamera of the castle there are not only objects of art, but also interesting things from around the world: compasses, corals, shells, portraits of “outlandish” people.
At the Ambrass Palace there is a palace park with mixed forest, rocks, gorges, paths, bridges and an artificial waterfall.
Every year there is a Renaissance festival in the park.
