Swarovski Crystal Worlds Museum
Swarowski Kristallwelten, A-6112 Wattens/Tirol, Wattens/Tyrol, Austria
About the company:
The Swarovski Crystal Worlds Museum was created by the decision of the famous manufacturer of crystal jewelry, Swarovski. By the centenary of its plant, the owners decided to give their admirers a gift - a crystal museum, which takes visitors to a fairy tale.
A team of artists and designers, led by Andre Heller, created a magical cave where crystal appears not as a museum exhibit, but as a work of art with magical power. The entrance to the underground room was decorated in the form of a giant’s head, because of the mouth of which the waterfall constantly falls, visitors get into a fabulous labyrinth consisting of 13 halls and corridors connecting them.
The museum presents not only a variety of crystals, but also the history of the creation of the plant itself and the rhinestones that it produces. In the underground treasury leads a glass tunnel with walls decorated with sayings of the great, in which the word “crystal” or “crystal” is necessarily present. The wall is 12 tons of pure crystal. In one of the halls of this unique museum you can see both the largest (40 cm in diameter weighs about 62 kilograms!) and the smallest (you can see only through a microscope - its diameter is less than a millimeter!) of crystals ever produced. There are watches of Salvador Dali made of crystal, and the decoration of the horse of the great Indian maharaja, and miniature crystal musical instruments, and jewelry and many other interesting exhibits.
When leaving the museum, visitors, both children and adults, can have fun in a maze shaped like a hand. About 600 thousand tourists come to visit the museum annually, despite the fact that the entrance ticket here is quite expensive.
The end of the tour of the Swarovski Crystal Worlds Museum is a visit to the world’s largest Swarovski store. It is located on an area of 1300 square meters, and offers visitors to purchase a variety of items as souvenirs, starting with jewelry and ending with interior items.
