Rotenturn Castle
9701 Spittal an der Drau, Austria
Description:
Rotenthurn Castle, located in the federal Austrian state of Carinthia, between the Drava River and Lake Millstatter See, was for many years a feudal county castle.
The history of the castle dates back to the XI century. This is evidenced by the architecture of one of the towers of the castle - the Red Tower, whose name is translated into German and gave the name of the castle.
The present appearance of the castle has been preserved since the XVII - XVIII centuries.
Since 1478 the castle has been privately owned. The castle is now owned by Baron Georg Pereira-Arnstein and his wife Maria. There is a hotel on the territory of the castle.
