Ursulina Church
Description:
The Ursulino Church is a former monastery, today’s Ursulinenhof. The church is interesting for tourists, as it is a noteworthy example of religious architecture of the XVIII century.
In 1968, the nuns left the monastery, and in 1973 it was acquired by Upper Austria and converted into a cultural center. Since its restoration in 1985, the church has served as a parish and community church for the St. Severin Forum, the Academic Catholic Union of the Diocese of Linz.
The picturesque church of Archangel Michael was built in 1736-1757 by the architect Johann Hasslinger. The facade of the church with double turrets is decorated with works by Franz Ignaz Mel, and a charming statue of Mary with two angels is located between the towers. All the statues in the church were made between 1770 and 1772.
