Lentos Museum

Ernst Koref Promenade 1, Linz, Austria

About the company:

The Museum of Contemporary Art, or Lentos, is a remarkable museum located in a 130-meter building built by the creative studio Weber & Hofer. So, the museum is also a curious place for tourists interested in modern art, as well as an architectural landmark.

In particular, the facade of the building is a complex system of glass panels, which in the daytime create an original effect of transparency and weightlessness. At night, the walls of the museum are illuminated by neon lighting, which also changes color, which looks original and extremely spectacular against the background of night Linz.

Lentos is a descendant of the New Gallery, which was created after World War II. The exposition is based on the collection of Wolfgang Gurlitt, which included works by such masters as Oscar Kokoschka, Egon Schille, Emil Nolde. In 2003, simultaneously with the construction of a new building, the museum received its current name.

Today, the museum’s collection includes 10,000 paintings, 1,500 sculptures and 850 photographs.
