Forensic Museum at Scharnstein Castle

Am Schlossberg 12, Grunau im Almtal, Austria | Scharnstein

About the company:

The Museum of Forensics in Scharnstein Castle tells tourists about the history of the development of the judicial case in Austria, from the late Middle Ages to the present day. The exposition of the museum is interesting, as well as the building itself, which is an object of cultural heritage of Austria.

Note that Scharnstein Castle was built in the XVI century, and it was in its basements in those long dark times that terrible tortures were carried out. Today, the museum exhibits instruments of torture, as well as numerous documents, drawings and artifacts related to forensics.

A separate part of the museum collection is devoted to forensic medicine and the death penalty (for example, there is a life-size gallows).
