Ledererturm Tower
Description:
In the XIII century, during the construction of medieval fortifications, four gates were built, which were called Ledertor, Trauntor, Fischertor and Schmidttor. Subsequently, the gate was expanded to full towers. The name of the towers was first mentioned on July 24, 1326.
Ledererturm Tower is the only one of the four that have survived to our time, and the other three were destroyed in the XIX century.
In 1610, the tower was badly damaged in a failed attack during the Passau People's War. In 1616-1619, the Gallic stonemason Martin Marx Spaz of Linz restored the towers, and after that the Ledererturm tower acquired its present appearance.
