Strauss House Museum
Praterstra ß e 54, 1020 Wien, Austria
About the company:
A famous musician, composer and conductor, Johann Strauss-son was born in Vienna, in the family of a famous composer. During his lifetime he created 496 works, of which 168 were waltzes. Having already gained the fame of the "king of waltz" and received universal recognition, Strauss settled on Praterstraß e 54, in a prestigious area of Vienna. It is here that the museum of the great composer will be created.
The house where Strauss lived for only 7 years and where he wrote the unofficial anthem of Austria - Opus 314 (Waltz "Blue Danube"), is still inhabited. The Strauss Museum is more of a museum apartment than a whole house. He's on the ground floor. Here are stored personal belongings of the composer, musical instruments, scores, letters, concert programs, including handwritten by the maestro himself, his portraits and household items. The pride of the museum is the Amati-Geige violin, with a certificate of 1911. The museum has its own unique atmosphere, created either by the smells of old furniture, parquet and paper with ink, or by the isolation of space and the similarity of the museum to an ordinary apartment.
