Salzburg Congress Center

Auerspergstrae 6, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

Near the Mirabel Gardens in the center of Salzburg is the congress center building. The exterior combines modern elements and classical architecture. Inside the Congress, there is a unique hall in Europe for 1,350 people, which can be transformed into 15 different configurations for seminars and other meetings.

The original congress building was built after the war in the 1950s, but by 2000 it had ceased to meet modern standards. The project of the new building was recognized as one of the most expensive in Austria. Hundreds of designers took part in the international competition, but the winners were Friedrich Brandstter and Ernst Maurer.

The building consists of five floors, on the lower of which there is a subway exit. The main hall is called Saal Europa. It is equipped with the latest technology, including the services of an interpreter for each of the 1,350 people present in the hall. On sunny days, the congress building can do without electricity, running only on its own solar panels, which are installed on the roof.
