Mirabel Gardens

Mirabelgarten, 5020 Salzburg, osterreich

Description:

Mirabel Gardens are a recognized masterpiece of landscape art. They surround the Mirabel Palace, which itself is a pearl of Baroque and one of the main Austrian attractions. His story is full of love and tragedy.

In the mid-sixteenth century, Prince Wolf Dietrich Raiteño built a palace for his beloved. The prince was also an archbishop, and according to church rules he had no right to marry. Despite this, his wife gave birth to Wolf 15 children. But the tale has a sad ending, and in the end the prince was thrown into prison, his wife was expelled from the country, and the palace was taken away.

Since then, the palace has repeatedly changed owners, burned and rebuilt. But one thing remained unchanged - these are flowerbeds, hedgerows, fountains, paved paths and neat carpets of flowers, which to this day are an integral part of the Mirabel gardens.
