Monument to Mozart
Mozartplatz 2, 5020 Salzburg, Austria
Description:
The words Mozart and Salzburg are almost synonymous. Probably every lover of classical music is familiar with Salzburg, as with the "city of Mozart". This is where Mozart spent most of his life, living here for 25 years. And it is this period of the genius's life that can be called the most fruitful - during these years Mozart created most of his extensive musical heritage, almost all symphonies, many concerts, as well as several operas.
Not far from the city promenade is Mozart Square, the main attraction of which is the impressive monument of the maestro. The author of the monument was the famous Austrian sculptor Ludwig von Schwantaler. The statue was made and installed in the square in the city center in 1842 in the presence of the sons of Mozart. Since then, it has become one of the main symbols of Salzburg.
