Getridgasse Street
Description:
Getridgasse is a busy shopping street in the old town. It starts from the old medieval church Sankt Blasiuskirche and runs about 400 meters between low two or three floors of buildings of the XII - XIV centuries. Here in the house number 9 was born and lived until the age of 17 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The unique color of this small street is given by signs made with maximum grace in the traditional medieval style. Every cafe, shop and workshop consider it their duty to outdo their neighbors. As a result, the entire street is decorated with twisted forged signs resembling heraldic coats of arms and banners.
The buildings on the street are close to each other leaving only narrow passages and small courtyards, which housed trays of bakers, confectioners, souvenirs and many other interesting things. Everyone here knows Madame Maria, who has been selling her dolls every day since 1987. Numerous shops display bright national Tyrolean costumes, which can be seen on local women. Be sure to go to one of the welcomingly open cafes, from where the impossible aromas of fresh pastries and coffee can be heard.
