Sigmund-Tun-Clamm Gorge

Kaprun, Austria, Salzburg region of Pinzgau

Description:

Sigmund-Thun-Klamm Gorge (Sigmund-Tun Gorge) was formed about 14 thousand years ago in the town of Spä teiszeit due to the descent of a powerful glacier. Here tourists can see a magnificent picturesque waterfall, beautiful convolutions descending from the mountain.

Interestingly, it is in this gorge that the largest diagonal lift in Europe operates - so the Austrians themselves report. The elevator is so powerful that it can even lift a bus! Also near the gorge, comfortable wooden bridges with railings were built, along which it is pleasant to walk and admire the wonderful landscapes and the waterfall itself.

Notably, the gorge leads to Lake Kapruner Ahe, which is also a local landmark. The entrance to the gorge is located about half an hour walk from the center of Kaprun, but you can also get to the gorge by bus (towernplatz and Maiskogelban stops).
