Salzburg Cathedral Museum
Domplatz 1a, Salzburg, Austria
About the company:
The Salzburg Cathedral Museum is housed in the gallery of the magnificent Salzburg Cathedral, which is itself a landmark. The museum presents exhibits reflecting the culture and art of one of the oldest archbishoprics of the German-speaking region.
The rooms of the museum were once a chapel, fortunately, to this day they have retained their baroque decor.
The exposition of the museum includes jewelry and unique textiles, numerous sculptures and paintings of the Middle Ages. Among the most noteworthy exhibits are the cross of St. Rupert (8th century), the Holy Limoges Pigeon, the works of Georg Raphael Donner.
The museum’s kunstkamera is also interesting, presenting tourists with a huge collection of minerals, various fossil and medieval mechanisms. Walking through the Kunstkamera, you can go to the galleries of St. Peter’s Abbey, which is a very long and narrow corridor, on the walls of which there are paintings of the Baroque era. In particular, attention should be paid to the works of Pavel Troger.
