Day of the Báb Declaration

Description:

Representatives of the Baha'i community in Sabirabad (Azerbaijan)
The Bahá’í community in Azerbaijan has existed since the beginning of this faith – since the mid-nineteenth century. During the Soviet era, the Bahá’í Faith, like other religions, could not be openly confessed.

After the collapse of the Soviet Empire and the restoration of state independence of Azerbaijan, freedom of religion gradually began to be restored in the country.

In 1992, after the adoption of the Law on Religious Freedom by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Baha'is of Azerbaijan were given the opportunity to officially establish communities.

In 1993, by the decision of the Board of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an official permit was given to the activities of the Baha'i Community of Baku.

2002 in Gos. The Baku community was re-registered by the Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In the same year, the Sumgait Baha'i community was also registered.

In 2004, the Baha'i National Spiritual Assembly of Azerbaijan, the central body of the national Baha'i community, was officially registered. Bahá’ís in the Republic of Azerbaijan, along with other citizens, live a full life after democratic transformations.
