Movlud Bayram

Description:

The holy city of Muslims is Mecca.
March 31 - The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad - Maulid al-Nabi (Arabic - time of birth) - is celebrated on the 12th of the month of Rabi ul-awwal. In Azerbaijani, the name of this holiday sounds like Movlud Bayramy.

The birth of Muhammad was celebrated only 300 years after the arrival of Islam. Since the exact date of Muhammad’s birth is unknown, this memorable day was dedicated to the day of his death, which leaves an imprint on the nature of the celebration. It should be noted that in Islam, birthdays are celebrated modestly and sometimes not at all, while dates of death, understood as birth for eternal life, are handled more solemnly.

Currently, Maulid al-Nabi is widely celebrated in Syria, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and other Muslim countries. In Pakistan, it is an official holiday celebrated on three non-working days.

Mawlid consists of reciting prayers and words of remembrance of Allah, glorifying the Prophet, verses and lectures on his life and birth. On Maulid, it is customary to express joy at the arrival of Muhammad, whom Muslims consider to be the last messenger of God, and to give thanks for this, to turn to God with prayers, to give alms to the poor and to conduct pious conversations with each other.

As part of the holiday, a festive meeting was held in the Baku cinema dedicated to the birthday (mulud) of the Messenger of God, the last Prophet Muhammad.

The meeting was organized by the Moscow Muslim Society “Ahli-Beit” and the All-Russian Azerbaijan Congress. The guests came not only from Moscow and the Moscow region, but also from far abroad. There was heartfelt music praising the Prophet and his teachings, Islam.

The event began with the reading of the Qur’an’s surahs – listening to the voice of Muezzin Meshedi Namik, people held their breath. Then Haji Nizami, chairman of Ahli-Beita, greeted him and spoke about the goals and tasks of the society he headed.

Famous translator of the Quran into Russian, Professor Valeria Porokhova told about the meaning and place of the Quran in the system of religions of the world, stressed that, unfortunately, today in the West often do not appreciate the importance of the Quran and the personality of the Prophet Muhammad. Indeed, unlike other religions and holy books, Islam and the Koran are of global significance. The Qur’an was not revealed by God to any people or to several nations, as the previous holy books did, but to all mankind through the Messenger of God Muhammad.
