World Information Society Day
Description:
The main tasks of creating an information society are the creation of the legal foundations of the information society, the development of the human factor, the right of citizens to receive information, its dissemination and use, the formation of a transparent state apparatus and apparatus of local self-government, electronic state, electronic commerce, strengthening social and intellectual potential.
The tasks of creating such a society are also the creation of a modern information and communication infrastructure, the formation of a single national information space, ensuring information security, integration into the global information space, the production of national ICT products, eliminating the backwardness of the country in the field of ICT and other necessary tasks.
The State Program for the Development of Communications and Information Technologies in Azerbaijan for 2005-2008 (Electronic Azerbaijan), implemented in the country, serves to create an information society and develop the state as a whole.
Representatives of state structures, scientific institutions, Milli Majlis (parliament) and private companies spoke at the event.
