From this time on, oil wells began to be drilled everywhere, and the new method of oil production gradually replaced the old method of digging wells.

It was from here that the outstanding Russian engineer Vladimir Shukhov conducted the first oil pipeline in the Russian Empire: 9 kilometers long, the width of the pipe - 7.62 cm. Costing 100 thousand rubles oil pipeline paid off in a year.

In 1898, photographer and experimenter Alexander Michon shot a 30-second film “Oil fountain in the Balakhany field”, which became one of the first films in the history of Azerbaijani cinema. To look at the oil wonders necessarily brought guests of Baku.
