Legendary Parks of Baku
Description:
Baku is not only a city of wind and fire, but also a city of parks. From the oldest Philharmonic Garden near the fortress walls of Icheri Sheher to the modern Love Park, from the kaleidoscope of impressions of Baku Boulevard to the cozy green Officers Park, you will walk through seven picturesque corners of the capital. And I will talk about the architecture and history of sights along the way, about significant personalities in the biography of Baku and about the traditional art of Azerbaijan. Parks of Baku are scattered throughout the city: a walk through them will not only be a pleasant leisure, but will allow you to cover the iconic sights of different eras. So, in the program: Philharmonic Garden (Mikhaylovsky): in the vicinity of the oldest park in Baku, you will see the Baroque mansion of Count de Boer, an elegant Philharmonic, the palaces of oil barons and the city hall of Baku, hear the legend of the ghost of a little Frenchwoman and meet local parrots - no one knows how birds uncharacteristic for the fauna of Azerbaijan got here. Love Park is an ultra-modern park, not far from which you will admire the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, and I will tell you about the features of this fantastic project by architect Zaha Hadid. Park of Officers, founded during the Great Patriotic War: here we will look at the majestic stone fountain and funny bronze statues - playing children, tea potter, chess player, photographer, saleswoman violets. Primorsky Boulevard is a park-symbol of the capital, which Baku citizens are proud of. At the International Mugham Center, I will talk about this national musical art, which has become a UNESCO heritage. We will talk about the traditional craft at the building of the Carpet Museum. Walking among exotic plants (huge baobabs and cacti, tall olive trees and palm trees are planted here), you will learn about Russian scientists who worked in Azerbaijan in the early 20th century, about the legendary sunken fortress of Sabayil, about the Khazar tribes and about people who visited these parts - from Marco Polo to Alexander Dumas. Molokan Garden (Khagani): I will tell you about the time when the garden was surrounded by caravanserai on all sides, and about the Russian trace in the past and present of Azerbaijan. The mountain park, where you will admire the Flame Towers and one of the best panoramas of Baku, you can see how the city, like an amphitheater, stretches out in the bay of the Caspian Sea. At the end of the tour we will drive to the Winter Park at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. You will learn about the traditional flower festival held here annually, about the millionaire brothers Hajinsky and about the unique “operation” associated with their home.
