The tour includes a tour of the largest mosque in Azerbaijan - Juma mosque. According to legend, the oldest and largest Shamakhi Juma mosque in Azerbaijan was founded in the VIII century, when Shamakhi was chosen as a residence by the Arab caliph. The original Arabic inscription on the portal of the mosque stated that the mosque was built in 744. Therefore, the Shamakhi Juma Mosque is considered one of the earliest mosques in Transcaucasia. In composition, it has almost no analogues in Azerbaijan. The architecture of the building is such that the huge prayer hall is divided into three independent sections connected by open wide openings. Each part has a separate mihrab and entrance.

Many people call this mosque a three-sided mosque. After significant destruction during wars and earthquakes, the mosque was repeatedly reconstructed and restored. And its modern appearance it received in the early XX century. The mosque was almost rebuilt, but on the old foundation and preserving the basic principles of its structure. It still has three rooms. Moreover, the central hall is covered with a huge dome, and the two side ones with smaller domes. Under the central dome there is a belt of windows decorated with openwork grilles. The entire facade is decorated with ornamental decoration.

Founded more than 1,200 years ago, the Shamakhi Juma Mosque now remains one of the largest religious buildings in the Caucasus.
