In Zagatala! Where life is pink and brown!
Description:
Preface
The charm of Zagatala is that despite the fact that it is a small, well-kept, cute town, it hides a huge number of historical memorable places that are international. Therefore, now we go with you on a fascinating journey through the interesting sights of the city and try to guess what ethnic origin a particular monument or building belongs to. And in all this cultural and historical constellation we will find Russian traces on the Azerbaijani land.
Who is this tour for?
Such an excursion will appeal to lovers of walks in small towns, where, enjoying the incredible landscapes of local places and listening to the sounds of the surrounding world, there are always many mysteries and interesting corners due to the rich history. We go to admire the Azerbaijani nature and unravel the secrets left by more than one people.
Zagatala - go to the exploration of centuries-old historical sights in search of the Russian trace
Like many significant cities, Zagatala boasts an old town square called Platanova. It is the center around which the city began to form. We will walk through a secluded historical corner, get acquainted with the buildings adjacent to it and learn what relation trees and freed slaves have to the name of the square. And here is the famous building that we were looking for - Zagatala Fortress. It was built in 1830 by the Russian tsarist government. It was well equipped with guns, and there was a garrison. Why? Our job is to find out. Not in vain about the fortress was written by Gilman Ilkin novel “Insurrection in the fortress”. Russian tourists can meet in the Azerbaijani city another building that is their soul – the only Russian-language school No. 2 named after N. Huseynov in the city.
A funny phenomenon is that schooling is conducted in Russian, and on the school facade we can see the image of a natural globe of Azerbaijan. The multi-level city itself is extremely beautiful. And that's extraordinary. Ancient buildings, buildings of Soviet times, modern buildings combined with charming, neat nature create amazing paintings.
The surroundings of Zagatala are a storehouse of truly unique attractions.
The village of Upper Chardahlar hides the original building - the fortress of Peri. It's carved right in the rock. In the frame of a green hill, she calls to herself, although it is not so easy to get to her. We will try to unravel who dared to create such a miracle, what secrets are kept behind a carefully carved portal and who is Peri. We will visit picturesque villages, where Albanian and Zoroastrian temples of the 12th and 13th centuries await us, as well as other amazing places with stunning stories and beautiful backgrounds for photo shoots. We will also have the opportunity to visit the original Café Lezzet. You’ve probably never dined in a tree nest in a real wild forest!
Valley of roses, lavender and chestnut.
Few people know that in ancient times, cuttings of roses of the Rainbow variety were planted in Zagatala, exported from the Crimea. Of the 400 species of roses known in the world, the most valuable are French and Bulgarian. That includes Rainbow. From them, a valuable aromatic product is produced - essential (pink) oil. The average yield of flowers reaches several tons per hectare. Once in Zagatala, we, of course, can not miss the opportunity to admire the plantations of roses and lavender, covered with spurs of the Greater Caucasus Range, forming a fertile hollow. You will learn about the meaning of rose water gulab, widely used in the rituals and traditions of Azerbaijanis, and about the beneficial properties of pink and lavender oils there are legends. These oils rejuvenate, dissolve scars and scars, relieve depression, reduce fear, optimize blood circulation, help with rheumatism and arthritis.
Our acquaintance with the miraculous properties of pink and lavender oils will continue at the plant for their production, where you will be shown the whole process of the appearance of these magical aromas.
In memory of Zagatala, you will take a bottle of real pink and lavender oils from here.
But Zagatala is also a nutty paradise. Here grow almost all varieties of chestnut, walnut and hazelnut. You will have the opportunity to try wonderful jams from walnuts and chestnuts.
Soul rest in a charming Azerbaijani house.
After an intense journey with a fascinating search for Russian traces in a colorful Azerbaijani corner, we will spend the night in a real national home of this stunning hospitable country. Now you can actually experience an ordinary evening of an ordinary Azerbaijani family in its traditional spirit. It will be a calm and heartfelt end to a meaningful and deep tour.
