Everything in Baku in a few hours
Description:
This tour is ideal for those visiting Baku for the first time. The start of the tour is usually from the hotel. First of all, I will conduct for our guests a sightseeing and informative auto-excursion around the modern city.
The tour is held along the main avenues and streets in the city center, along the route of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Guests will see Baku architecture, the famous embankment and all the main iconic places in the city center (bypass the Aliyev Cultural Center, the Carpet Museum, Baku Venice and the funicular, the Philharmonic and the Governor’s Square).
During the car tour, I will make several stops near the most important sights. For example, we will walk up to the highest point of the city – to the Observation Deck in the Nagorny Park, from where guests can enjoy panoramic views of Baku;
Then we will drive to the southern tip of Baku Boulevard, where I will show guests real working oil rockers and the world’s first well, from which oil was extracted industrially, and dating back to 1846. It is here that I will tell our guests about the oil history of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.
If the new symbols of the Azerbaijani capital are the “Fire Towers” and the cultural center named after G. Aliyev, then the iconic building of ancient Baku is certainly the historical center of the city of Icheri Shcheher (Old City); Walking tour of Icheri Scheher (the Old Town).
During this tour, our guests will see the main attractions of antiquity - these are medieval caravanserai and baths, shopping squares and mosques with minarets, as well as the famous Maiden Tower (Giz Galasy). It, by the way, is associated with a lot of mysteries, all sorts of secrets and legends. Icheri Scheher is not only a museum territory, but also a residential quarter.
Once in the Old Town without a guide, it is easy to feel like a lost hero of the “Diamond Hand” – it is difficult to understand how locals navigate here. However, wandering through the streets and dead ends, past ancient mosques, baths and many caravanserais, you will sooner or later go out to the museum of the wonderful artist Tair Salakhov, and to the unique museum of miniature books, as well as to the house No. 8 on Kichik-Gala Street (Small Fortress), where, slipping on watermelon crusts, Semyon Semyonich Gorbunkov, uttered his famous “Daming hell”.
