Firstly, because here you can see an amazing natural phenomenon - mud volcanoes, and secondly, admire the rock paintings that our distant ancestors left behind. Gobustan Reserve is included in the UNESCO list and is one of the wonders of the world.

Who is this tour for?

This tour will be interesting to everyone who likes to look at the unusual phenomena of nature and solve the mysteries of antiquity. You will see unique geological formations and visit mysterious caves that were once the cradle of humanity. You will be immersed in the history of the stone and the oil boom of Baku.

Paleontology: Art through the Ages.

Art does not die or become obsolete. You can easily see this in the historical and artistic reserve of Gobustan. It is enough to go down into the caves and carefully examine the unique drawings carved on the vaults of the caves. The spirit is breathtaking from how ancient these paintings are, but their plots are still understandable to modern man - wild animals, a chase, the division of prey.

Rock paintings of Gobustan belong to the Upper Paleolithic period, according to experts, they are several tens of thousands of years old!

Just imagine how long it has been since ancient artists captured their simple life on the vaults of caves. People tamed fire and wild animals, learned agriculture, mastered the smelting of metal, built and destroyed cities, mastered new lands and fought.

In the modern interactive museum you will also explore the parking lot of primitive people and get acquainted with their life, learn what they ate, who they hunted, what plants and animals surrounded them.

While walking and exploring the caves, you will hear about other sensational discoveries made here by the Norwegian explorer T. Heyerdahl and learn the mystery of the Latin inscription, which was applied to one of the rocks of Gobustan in the first century AD.

Geological miracle: mud volcanoes.

The next point of the tour is mud volcanoes. Gobustan is called the land of mud volcanoes, because there are more of them than anywhere else. By the way, more than half of the mud volcanoes in the world are located in Azerbaijan! During the tour, you will be able to see this natural wonder in detail, learn how it is formed, and what types of volcanoes exist in nature (Gobustan has almost everything!).

On the way back to Baku, there will be a small stop at the Bibi-Eybat sanctuary, where the ashes of one of the descendants of the Prophet Muhammad rest. You can take memorable photos of this beautiful sight of Azerbaijan and learn about all the vicissitudes of its fate.

Museum of stone chronicles and heroes-wells on Baku Boulevard

The promenade along Baku Boulevard is a kind of ritual that everyone who comes to the capital of Azerbaijan should perform. It is very cozy here, offers a beautiful view of the sea and the city.

Take a headdress and sunglasses for the tour!

The walk will be interesting. We will go to the museum of stone chronicles, where exhibits of the time of 2-3 millennia BC are stored. You will see stone tools used by ancient people, tombstones with inscriptions and other unique artifacts. Be sure to see the monument, which is installed on the site of the very first oil well. You will be surprised to see that the mechanism used to extract oil is made of wood.
