River Deile
Description:
The Deile River is an 86 km long Belgian river that carries its waters into the Rüpel River. It flows through several major provinces of the country: Walloon Brabant, Flemish Brabant and ancient Antwerp. The river has about a dozen tributaries that feed it from source to mouth, the largest of them are Thiel, Tran, Netan.
There are several old Belgian towns along the river. The city of Vavre is famous for the fierce fighting between the Prussians and the French in 1815. Tourists should also visit the university town of Leuven, standing on the river, which gives it picturesqueness.
