Antwerp

River Scheldt

Antwerpen 2000, Flanders, Belgium

Description:

The Scheldt or Esco is a river that flows through countries such as France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Its length is 430 kilometers, and the area of the basin is 35.5 thousand square kilometers.

It was thanks to this great river, on which the commercial port was built, that the city of Antwerp was born. If she did not bring on its waves ships loaded with goods, perhaps these places would be useless. There would be neither the Old City on its shores, nor a busy port, where many ships from many countries of the world still crowd, nor gulls floating romantically above the water. The width of the river in the Antwerp area is 450 meters, and the average depth of the water artery is 10-15 meters. In its waters there are about seventy species of fish.
