Meir Street
Description:
Meir is the most expensive and bustling street in the Belgian city of Antwerp. Here are beautiful pompous buildings, an ancient town hall of the sixteenth century, a theater and one of the attractions of Antwerp - the historical house of the artist Rubens.
The name of the street comes from the Dutch word "meer" and translates as "lake". Most of the streets are built in Rococo style. Especially stands out the majestic Royal Palace.
You can often hear people refer to this street as a shopping street. After all, it was here in 1531 that the world’s first trading exchange building was built.
